The latest version of Microsoft’s desktop operating system is Windows 7. There are several versions available, starting with Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate. All features in lower version are available in the next version, that is, all Home Premium features are in Professional and all Professional features are included in Ultimate.

Home Premium as the name suggests, is designed for home use and includes several new features including the following:

Improved navigation to files and programs
Easy creation of a home network to share photos, music, files and printers between PCs running Windows 7 - HomeGroup
Allows your PC to sleep and resume more quickly - Sleep and Resume
Better power management to increase usage times for laptops
Full system backup and restore

The Professional version includes the following additional features:

The ability to connect to a Windows domain
The ability to run older programs in Windows XP mode for compatibility
The ability to back up to a home or business network

Windows 7 Ultimate includes the following additional items:

Better protect data on your PC and portable storage devices (e.g. USB drives) against loss or theft - BitLocker
The ability to switch between languages on the PC

Windows 7 makes a PC easier to use, perform better and more secure.
